Good morning Fran, Tibs, CES, Atty, Bear, Mad, and any other Snails I missed :lol: Happy Monday!

hiya, stone! you have been missed ;) good thing you're asleep now or i'd send you to the andaz to make sure my boy made it back from brooklyn alright - they had to trek all the way out there to peter luger's, no reservations to be had in manhattan when they needed them ;)
You've been missed too!! :wub: Reservations for Peter Lugers need to be made long in advance, but of course I'd rather go to another steak house anyway. I hope they made it back in one piece and enjoyed an excellent meal :) Is he having a good time in NY?

and with that said

good morning!

and a bit of good news - apparently the weather system is far enough east where we supposed to get only a dusting on tuesday ;)
but darn cold for us one more time :?:
It's been great weather here...but now it's gotten colder (only 26° right now), and they're calling for some sort of snow tomorrow. I haven't been able to keep up with the full weather predictions so I need to find out if I need to pull out the super snow boots again :lol:
Good morning Fran and Tibs

Welcome home Stone.
Thank you CES! :toast:
Good morning snail types.

~~~~~ to Stone in particular. Hope all is going well.
Good luck with the weather Bear, Fran.
Good morning Atty :)
Batavia Downs Racino
Today is "Senior Monday"... so another chocolate "ice cream" in a cup* is in my future! And $15 in "free" play.
I am still very interested how this place is allowed to have smoking areas. Yes, they are enclosed, but New York State law forbids smoking in any public building, enclosed or not. (The exceptions are Native American-run casinos.) I am unable to find information anywhere that explains how it's allowed here. Not that I'm COMPLAINING... I absolutely take advantage of it. But it's still a mystery.
* - Because - apparently - us seniors cannot handle a cone.
Enjoy the ice cream and win big, Bear :thumb:
The American Indian tribes have soveriegn land, which allows them to establish casinos and also limits the reach of federal and state governments to determine what happens on that land. It is the same reason that they can also sell cigarettes without the high federal and state taxes that all other sellers have to charge.
Stone, 'sup?
Hiya Mad :)
I'm currently debating if it would be better to go to the barber before I do laundry, or laundry first?? :lol: I have to get both done...
I think this counts as procrastinating....so I guess that's really what I'm doing...procrastinating :laugh:
How's the leg????
Definitely hit the barber first (but after the haircut is over, ha!), then do laundry.
Leg's getting better...I got hella sick of the brace and compression sleeve after work on Friday. Removed them when I got home and haven't worn either, since. I'm actually having an easier time with my gait; but I'm still dependent on a crutch.
Thx for askin! :thumb:
Ended up EXACTLY "even". I was up $17.xx at some point, so I cashed in... put the original $$$ back in the wallet... and played off the profits. Oh well... better than losing, and we had fun and a nice lunch.
Stone: this place is a state-run "racino" (they cannot call it a casino as the NA tribes have some kind of trademark or something on the word "casino" in NY). And there are no "slot machines"... they are "video lottery terminals" (with < 70% overall payout). But anyway, this particular racino is the ONLY one in NY that has dedicated indoor smoking areas. The other 4 or 5 are completely non-smoking... and I can say the one directly east makes puffing patrons walk FAR away from the entrance.
Now to think about making dinner even though I'm not hungry at all.
ETA:
Actually, I guess I ended UP the $.xx cents that was pocketed at cash-out. So, yeah... it was a "win" visit.
