Maybe I'll just get a laptop. My laptop is old and has issues and I can't get both.
I dunno Fran. I got an ACER through amazon prime, and it's been decent. It is Win8.1.
you can try it first but using your wireless keyboard and mouse on your old lap top and see how you like it!

I have a tech guy who comes to my home that I trust and he diagnoses what is wrong and he is usually right on target. If I need parts, he buys them right on line with me there to check.
If you could go to Angie's List and possibly find a local recommended tech who would come to the house, that would be my suggestion, because I agree with the above that your problems weren't fully addressed properly.
Of course, that is MHO!
