lol.

Bah...Win 8 is fine. Vista sucked. Not even a close comparison IMHO.
People just like stuff to complain about.
:)

True that. DH and DD both have W8 (work and college) and are perfectly happy. The big DD has a Mac and is happy too. :)

I'm still running my W7--works fine for my needs.

What a wonderful morning. I reported a problem to Microsoft and did windows updates last night. Tigger jumped up on the bed at 3;30 am and woke me up.:)

I wouldn't normally be thrilled about Tigger waking me up so early but he hasn't been able to jump up on the bed for awhile now.

Sounds like Hershey! We're happy when she climbs upstairs and manages to get on our bed... :)

Good for Tigger! Sorry about your lost sleep.

Good morning y'all

So, I have a question...what happens if a someoe gets the nickle coils but doesn't have a dna 40 board with temperature control? will the PV fire? will it melt the coil? stress the battery?

...and it seems that it's already time to go to work. sigh.

have a good one y'all

Hi CES!

I asked that question elsewhere--this is what I was told:

Believe it or not, nothing bad. Some people have been using 0.08 ohm nickel coils on the DNA40 with no problem. You could even safely use one on a mod, with a safe battery, even the purple eFests that are labeled as 35 amps but really aren't (35 amp pulse, 20 amp continuous).

Nickel increases in resistance rather significantly as the temperature increases - that's how the temp control on the DNA 40 works. If put on a mech mod and fired, that coil will be 0.08 ohms for far less than a second. The initial amp draw may be quite high, but only for a very short time. Using that much wattage, the coils will hit 400-500 degrees really quick, and the resistance will climb considerably. Without double checking the math, my guess is the coil resistance will hit around 0.3 ohms in less than two seconds.

For most batteries, 0.3 ohm is plenty safe.

BOOM!

So there.

G There's a lot of scammers claiming to be from "windows support" or from MSoft and they install spyware on your system and try charging fees for doing nothing. So watch out for scam calls...they are all over the place! If YOU initiate support from MSoft and get it, that's different. That's OK. But if you get a call out of the blue...be cautious. Probably just hang up.

One of them called me this morning.

Said he was calling from Microsoft and that "his center received signals from my computer indicating that something was wrong." I let him know how I felt ...

I truly don't know anything about nickel coils. I assume they are using an alloy of nickle and have checked out all the pros and cons and safety.

Actually they are using pure nickel wire (well, may not 100% but close), so people who are allergic won't be able to handle the wire--as in build their own coils.

That's all I know on the subject. The subject was briefly discussed in Phil's video, but Brandon didn't elaborate. :D

Got that same call 2 days in a row.......hubby answered and I didn't like the way the conversation was going, so I grabbed the phone from his hands and did my thing! They didn't call back a third time. I do believe I will get a whistle.
