Hiya CES. Any plans for your day off? Shopping, seasonal-sight-seeing, etc? Maybe one of those good books?
Well, the original plan was to go to a birthday brunch for a friend. But her brother's neck was broken in a 4-wheeler accident Friday night (he was checking the fenceline). He's paralyzed and it doesn't look promising. We're now gathering to decorate my friend's mom's house instead. Her mom has a cardiac cath scheduled for tomorrow too.

I do have some decorations up. Gifts will be handmade, or for the nephews it'll be gift cards. so shopping is pretty much done. I hate to shop. I do have to call my brother today and confirm what he probably already knows, that i won't be visiting for Christmas.

@CES. Wow. What bad luck for your friend's brother! There's some recent advances in the news on spinal injuries that were nothing short of miraculous. Probably depends on specifics though...but I have hope for her brother! Fingers crossed.
Yeah, all ATV's should come with roll bars and seat belts. Just say'n. Sigh.

It's sad and very scary. Apparently it took several hours for him to be found (thank gosh it wasn't cold out). My friend's relationship with her brother had been..complicated..but was maybe starting to shift for the better. What a mess.
Mess indeed. Maybe the swelling will go down and it's better than it looks right now.....(lame grasping at positive thoughts). He lived through it though, so it wasn't a complete break, right?...aka spinal cord not completely severed, or he wouldn't have survived, right? (You know about this stuffis, I'm guessing)
