Assume? Doesn't matter. No matter what you think the bet is, it's something else. Kinda like magician's slight-of-hand.
Fact remains they didn't even start his driveway until yesterday.
Awaiting promised pic before rainfall...

Will the pic prove or disprove anything?

Here is a "before" picture. The crack you see is where the old metal
under-asphalt pipe had rotted away. What is hard to see is that it
is also about 2-3" heaved up, causing a tripping hazard. So, "the work",
"the job", consisted of ripping up the old asphalt, ripping out the rotted
pipe, digging a new trench to accommodate a 4" PVC pipe, re-gravelling
the underlayer and then re-paving. "The work", "the job". It is all ONE
thing.

Everyone knows the project has many tasks. (and more than what was revealed at first).
The task we were betting on is starting the driveway. And that should be a one day thing...not knowing there were any other things on the list (like drainage pipe).

He stalled you off Bear. All that could have been done in a day. THAT is what the pic will prove. Any reasonable person would have assumed that they'd show up and do the bed and lay the asphalt all in one day. THAT was the bet. When they'd do that.

Then this "drainage" pipe thing "materialized" into the project. Abracadabra!

What you can also see "south" of the crack is "alligatoring" of the asphalt due to
rainwater seepage under the driveway... small heaving and cracking. "North" of
the crack is where rainwater also formed a trough leading under the garage
flooring and ending at an interior wall in the basement. It was all apparent after
they removed the top layer of asphalt... looked like giant ant colony tunnels.

OK... analogy time.

Say I had a big boil on my bass, and I wrote here saying I was going to a dermatologist
to have it removed. And that is all I said. Would I also have to tell you about the local
anesthesia, the scalpel, the bloody pus and all the bandages as well? Would not "removed"
just about cover everything?

The KNOWN dependencies? NO you wouldn't.
But your analogy is "tricky" too. Because what you should have said was,
"Do I have to tell you that the doctor has transportation problems, and that he might have to reschedule, so having a PA just "look" at it but not do anything about it until the doctor is available a week later...is supposed to count for something." The answer is YES, you have to mention that as a condition. Because the boil didn't get "worked on" until a week later. You still spent an extra week being a pain-in-the-bass.

    OK... ♪♫♪♫♩ Promised, promised....♪♫♪♫♩ after-pic.

Yes, it all looks like hell. I still have (uncontracted) work to do to neaten
up. I've been putting off doing ANYTHING there all season long because
it would have all been ruined during the work... March-August. Need to
re-do the rock border, add flex extension pipe, fill in trench, topsoil and
seed. Then have the rest of the driveway cosmetically repaired.
