    Same thing here,Bear:grr:

    It's the pits!!!

I have 22 hanging baskets. 14 will come into the garage. The other 8 (22" diameter) are just
too damn heavy, so I'll Hefty-bag those. Plus 7 ground-level pots... Hefty covers. And a few
dozen in-ground (cover)... a couple deck rail planters (cover, too). Unplanted stuff is easy.

All for ONE night. But I have too much time and $ invested to let them be killed. It happened
twice over the last 38 years because there was NO warning of impending frost.

Interesting goings-on over there today as well. Still too soon to speculate what may
be happening. I should be able to piece together more in a few hours.

I did skulk over there earlier to be sure there is no cat in the house. I'm pretty sure
the estranged wife(?) took it for the demon-spawn.

NO... I do not just sit and watch. I'm outdoors working and am able to see and hear.
But I do turn up the hearing aids and use binoculars to get better info. :D The front
yard is getting more attention than usual.

Time to head back out... Blue Angels will begin practice runs soon. Want to watch...
and comfort T'mato cat... scares the hell out of him.

Uck! Fran & Bear, so sorry you have to be worrying about freezes now......and with all those plants....ugh...
When I lived in Va., I used my birthday in March to start seeds inside and wouldn't put those plants out until May 15th.......even then, there was a chance of freeze, but never did happen while I lived there.

Bear, when are you going to start covering your plants?

I have started already. Too many to wait until dusk.

There's a difference between a frost warning and a freeze warning. You CAN have frost at temps
above 32... I'm not a meteorologist and can't explain it... but it does happen. And with frost, all
one needs to do is cover. But a freeze warning is for temps under 32. THOSE will sink annuals,
covered or not unless you can smudge-pot the area. And I'm fresh out of smudge pots. Darn it.

We're just supposed to get frost... with a predicted temp of 34-37. So there you go.

Oh, wanted to add to Bear......the story is getting more interesting by the day.....turning your hearing aid up.....binoculars!!! Too funny! Keep listening; keep watching! :)

Well, between you and me and the lamppost (which is where you will find @AG51 )... a flatbed
unloaded a big pickup truck into the driveway. No plates, no registration, no inspection sticker.
"He" was a passenger in a van that followed shortly. "He" went into the house and came out
with a fistful of papers and stuff, hopped back in the van and off they went.

So... I come away with four possibilities:

    1. His regular truck got repo'd
    2. His regular truck belonged to the wife(?) and he's now lost it
    3. His regular truck became disabled in some manner
    4. This will be his new tinker-toy to work on... like the junker that's been in the driveway for
about a year... with no plates, expired registration and expired inspection... all against town
code and which has been reported 3 times, but still manages to sit there as an eyesore.

1, 2 and 3: The fistful of paperwork could have been stuff to take to the DMV to get the
truck plates and registration. But, a vehicle must be inspected before a registration can be
issued. So like I said, I'm trying to figure this all out.

1, 2 and 3: If this means no more dual-exhaust glass-pack muffler rumbling and vibrating of
MY home, then that's fine. (Again, against town noise ordinance code, reported 3 times as
    well.)

    I'm an ogre.

Hey everyone. Checking in between visitation times. Got a call from my dad on the drive down and they have moved my mom back to ICU. She is not doing well. There is limited visitation in ICU so I can go back at 5 to see her again. She is still on the respirator and has tubes coming in and out of her everywhere. I'm really worried.
