So, having spent the day researching, we have decided to not have the surgery. We want to try the conservative method. More and more dog owners are opting for this. It requires the same diligence of keeping her from running and jumping. They have custom made braces and she will go on glucosamine and chondroitin, along with fish oil. Already changed up the house so that there is only one place she could jump, and that would be the lazy boy couch in the family room. So, we block that off when we are not in there.

Waiting to talk to the vet about more measures, such as some laser treatments and physical therapy. Dogs under 30lbs OFTEN heal on their own with these kinds of measures. Keeping fingers crossed that this works. We can always do the surgery later if it doesn't work, but, from what I read, she has a high chance of complete recovery without surgery. Talked to a vet tech who went this route with her 90lb. dog and she did just fine. Puggers is 19 lbs, so it's not a lot of weight bearing to begin with.

Just a long update...:)
Well now, that sounds like a viable option, and good for you on the research! I research everything until my eyes are crossed, so I can imagine how you feel, especially since you did find an alternative.

With the glucosamine & chondroitin along with the EFAs, that sounds very promising! Betcha your furbaby does real well!!

The history: GF's pup was healing, then it decided it was feeling better, and on a moment of excitement when someone was visiting, she followed us all out the door and took a leap up the wall (well, tried). It took about 5 seconds for it all to go down. Then, she ended up having surgery. She probably made whatever was going on worse.

So it's best to walk fido on a leash, IMO. Of course, we didn't have all these details (and she was already scheduled for a vet appointment the next day. Go figure. Timing is everything.)

Hi snails. GF's pool pump now in operation. New gaskets and bushings/bearings installed. $10.00 in parts, not too bad. Got to keep the dog out of it for two weeks. She got her stitches out, and there's some "raw" areas where she won't leave it alone (and that's with a code-head thing most of the time. IDK why GF took the cone off of her, but there's a reason.)
