Might be worth checking.

If next-door is getting less than 1mb via cable, why would we expect to get more?

We want two phone lines.

If we could get reliable stream-quality internet, we WILL dump DISH, pronto. That
alone would pay for the fiber, NetFlix (and 1 or 2 other streaming service) with $
left over.

Thanks Dale. :)

Bear, the cable-modem Comcost uses has TWO phone line connections....
Just FYI. Hard to believe that any cable company is still doing 1mbs. I'm dubious. Also your neighbor is probably ultra-cheap on the package or something else is wrong. Guessing. Besides, "triple-play" people get 15/30mbs standard I think.

The key words are "UP TO" (12mb). UP TO. So, they get less than 12mb service, but the words "up to"
make what they are getting totally within the contract. I suppose they could downgrade to whatever
the next level is, but then they could get throttled to even lower... and STILL be within the contracted
service agreement.

The husband showed me (on a tablet) a few months ago and the speed test was under 1mb.

It should be illegal.

G'mornin, snails!

It's ***BLEEP*** 63°F out!

In other news, I've received confirmation that I'm in line for a kitten from a litter that should be born within the week. I know some/all of you may scoff at me deciding to get a fuzzball from a breeder, but that doesn't stop me from being SUPER excited about finally getting a pet of my own that has less of a chance to make me miserable from allergies!
