Guitars and stuff are easily pawned/sold. Some guy/gal needed the cash (prolly drugs). I know, stereotyping. But....

Car misfortunes are unavoidable in CA... Fender benders, break-ins, broken windows, parking tickets. No public transportation to speak of--everybody's driving, including those who really shouldn't.
As long as nobody's hurt, we've come to accept it. Same with earthquakes, mudslides and droughts.

Sounds as bad as Detroit. 50% of the people there are 'driving dirty' due to nation's highest rates. Complicated reasons. Michigan's rates are way too high due to laws for infinite medical payouts and no fault.
