lots of them do well in pots, frannie - you could keep them right on the potch!
They practically grow themselves......just water, and no fertilizer needed.....easy peasy! Right from the pot, too!
Frannie, on your porch, you could easily grow some basil, parsley in a pot.......smells good, too!

Yes, that's the one I forgot.......I love rosemary......I kept one in a pot, and put the other in the ground.......

Terragon! You have to have terragon. And thyme. And Italian parsley.
Oh, rosemary--it's always trying to overtake my garden. The thing grows like a weed here. Rain or shine--winter or summer--whatever--it GROWS!!!!
