Oral surgeon consult this afternoon. I should start a pool here to see who can guess the
estimate... just for fun.
IV sedation
6 "simple" extractions
1 "complex" extraction
7 synthetic bone grafts *
Hit of nitrous for the IV needle placement
* I really really question the need for the bone grafts. I am NOT getting implants, and the
"first opinion" never made mention of bone grafts. But the first opinion did mention
"torus mandibularis" removal (which "second opinion" did NOT mention).

seems like the bone grafts wold only be needed for implants- unless they think that you might change your mind and get implant in teh future? I dunno much about oral surgery, almost nothing except that it's expensive and sometimes necessary.
Hope you get settings that last this time, Tibs. Does DH drink coffee?

Even without knowing whether he has the genetic variant it might be worth giving him some coffee and sharing your vape?

@ bear - if nothing goes there then you're right - the grafts are not needed! they will disappear within 2 to 3 years .......

@SilverBear, I would certainly question the doctor about the bone grafts. Seem unnecessary to me, if you are getting partials.

The partials will sit on top of the gaps left by the extractions. (I think) the prosthodontist said the
grafts are for "support". But but but... there are four teeth ALREADY missing and those spots will
not get grafted. So... I'm puzzled. (All back molars.)
And some people wait years between having missing teeth and getting partials/dentures. They get
impressions... pieces made... and they go in place.
The grafts will add a very decent chunk of $$$ to the whole thing, and I need to know a GOOD "why".
So, we had a fire alarm go off in my building yesterday. What a pain. Afterwards the building manager told me that it was most likely because the smoke detector got set off by someone vaping. grrrr. Seems that building services is having a bit of trouble with that recently

This place is big Big BIG on implants. The doc was one of the researchers/developers of the
"Hybridge" implant procedure. So yeah... the cynic in me senses a future high-pressure tactic.
