ff keeps a lot of stuff in memory, bear, and the longer you use it the more is memorized. just check under 'history' you'll find it can restore heaven knows how many recently closed tabs and windows

Several possibilities. Most probably is a "memory leak" where it's allocating but not freeing memory. Unintentionally. Often caused by addons. Then, there's the "cache everything" issue, where it's just not expiring stuff soon enough. Then there's "bug in memory GC" where it gets fragmented and less usable.

I'm not impressed at the moment either. I didn't have the issue in win 8. So I wonder, somewhat secretly, if it isn't a Mickysoft "change" causing it.

P.S.
It's slightly better in FF 40. Make sure you've upgraded. Still there though.

The problem has surfaced only within the last week... around the same time I started in again
with "Song Association"... lots of YouTube activity. Annnnnnd... that is it. Keeping YouTube
open in a tab, each song I navigate to just adds more and more memory usage.

That said, there have been other times using YouTube a lot in a sitting where lag has not been
a problem.

I should try Chrome and see what happens.

Bear, IDK what to tell you. Too many variables. And Microsoft wasn't nice to browser-makers with this update. When you add flash into the mix, who knows? I avoid flash like the plague though. Still have the problem.

How am I supposed to spend a 1/2 penny?

How would you spend a full penny? Gumball machines are now 25c and up.

I toss all pennies, nickels and dimes into a huge mug. When full, it goes to the
super-ultra-mega-palooza-fest-a-thon-grocery-store and into a fee-free CoinStar
machine. I keep quarters for NYS Thruway tolls, casino and reservation trips.

And another a-ha! I went to "Song Association" which is stinking with YouTube embeds.

FF memory use went from about 400,000 to over 950,000 just loading one page!!!

YouTube is the culprit.

Well, more likely Flash and/or WEBM.
Is your adobe flash up to date?
I don't think you have to have it for youtube anymore.
