Good morning

Good thoughts for Piper.

Happy thoughts of rain (without flooding) for Katya.

Glad T-mato's vet visit went well.

I seem to have caught Fran's sore throat. Hmph. hoping that zinc and vitamins and exercise can keep it from becoming more than a mild annoyance.

I have a tale for ya! There's a cricket somewhere in my kitchen or/and my fireplace. It's so loud that it drives us nuts. Any ideas how to persuade him to go outside? Only non-lethal options, please!

The rain is coming.

Sweet dreams, Snails. :)
FYI - They eat wheat/bread. (trap)
Maybe google cricket trap.

When I wanted to use crickets for fishing, I'd dig a hole in the field next door and then put a slice of bread in the bottom and cover it with a thin board (similar to covering with cardboard). If the hole was deep enough and the sides straight enough, the crickets would smell the bread and go for it, but fall into the hole, and not be able to jump back out or climb out. Some escaped, but by the next day there would be enough crickets in the hole to go fishing.

You put hooks through those innocent insects??? :glare:

Barbarian.

What did the crickets ever do to YOU???
:D
Food chain, dude. Food Chain. Tell me again about how you want to be a cook....

Katya: Home Farm Ideas: Cricket trap!
See the video. Uses a water bottle. He makes an important modification to the trap about 1/2 way in, where he uses the top too. So view at least 3/4s of it.

P.S.
Also, he uses fruit/veggies and a bit of water. I suppose that's good too. I'd add bread (like crouton size). I know locus eat wheat...and bread is fermented/pungent/moist, so....

P.P.S.
Cover the trap with something that shields the 'sky' but lets the crickets at it. Crickets like cover over their heads (you would too if you were basically a walking bird-food. Tweety's should relate.)

Heya Atty

Yep, exercise... i try to make sure that i don't use the first few symptoms as an excuse to stop whatever exercise i happen to be doing (right now it's just a 1.5 mile walk and a few situps). I think that maybe raising my body temp works similarly to a fever and works with zinc and vitamin C to help fight stuff off when it's early on. i think it's been a couple of years since i was last sick, so it seems to work. Even now, i don't actually feel bad- just scratchy throat and itchy eyes. It'll either go away or not. We'll see. :)
