IDK if it occurred to you or not, but CES probably knows that answer. Of course, if needed, she has access to drugs and methods that you don't have access to.

I assume asphyxiation is the least-pain method (that you could employ easily) for the fish when it's "that time". It would "pass out" and then die. Just guessing, as I'm not a fish.

P.S.
This is morbid. Why didn't we get over it the first time?

This is also what happens to most of the pan-fish before you clean them. So you have no gripe.
