Tibs. If you're complaining about heath-care costs charges in general, yep, it's expensive.
They don't build all those new buildings and stuff em full of people for free.
It's big business these days...

We need to get a handle on the costs without hanging the Seniors out to dry.

G'mornin, snails!

My first visit to the vet with the kittehs went much better than I expected. I was surprised that Zuzu was the fussiest of the two, but both were little champs while getting their shots! Lev-Lev needs to get neutered ASAP...I caught him "in position" last night (but not "in action," THANK GOD - I think he's still too young to really understand what the *bleep* is going on). Zuzu must've been a good girl and given him quite the piece of her mind. After I scolded Lev, I had to leave the room...when I got back, they were separated and Lev had a look of sad rejection and Zuzu looked downright PIST.

I'm totally gonna spring for the laser surgery for both of them.

I'll go for that, after I retire in a few years I'll still have to work some to pay for the crap and I'm one of the ones that builds those places :-x

i know you're a happy camper, bear! ;) but what is the cost of these plans without subsidies?

As far as I know, those particular plans are unavailable even with subsidies.

I knew NOTHING about these new "essential" plans until last week, so I was poking
around the available "silver" offerings thinking things would just continue as for '14
and '15. The silver level plans no longer include any $0 deductible, so I called my
provider to find out what's up. It was only then I knew about these 4 new plans.

From my 'net scouring, these "essential" (or as other states call them: BHPs) plans
are only offered by 3 or 4 states... NY being 1 of them. I think CA is another, but
the other(s) escape me. (I'll look again.)

I don't even want to approach the subject of health insurance only to say that it messed with us big time; we are very much in our senior years, and had to make some drastic changes. We've accepted it and released any anger cause holding on to that anger would result in stress and then b/p meds from a doctor! :nah::nah: We're more holistic anyway!

We're OK with our decisions now.

it's been big business for years and obamacare made it worse .................

Yep. Locally, 2 providers have dropped out of ACA completely for 2016 (they
were taking a huge financial hit), which forces those affected to sign up with
somebody else, almost certainly at a higher cost... assuming those folks do NOT
    qualify for a BHP.

It's all very lopsided... and - at least in the few states which offer BHPs in 2016 -
    it's totally out of balance.

amazing ecf - this post showed up only after several refreshes! :?:

morning, mad! and woohoo for a decent vet visit ;)

laser seems to be the way to go if offered but keep this in mind - just replace 'dog' with 'cat'

''Laser surgery is not perfect. There is some clinical evidence that tissue may not heal as quickly as with traditional surgery, a situation that can require both veterinarians and pet owners to be vigilant during the recovery period. A dog that feels little pain or discomfort may attempt to resume her regular activities even though the tissue at the surgical site may not be completely healed.''
