How to Show the Computer Icon on the Desktop in Windows 7

    1. Right-click the Desktop and then click Personalize from the menu that appears.

    2. When the Personalization Control Panel window appears, click the Change desktop icons link on the left pane.

The Desktop Icon Settings dialog box will open. The Desktop Icon Settings dialog box has only one tab, Desktop Icons.

In the Desktop Icons section you will find a list of icons that are available for the Desktop.

Most if not all of the icons should be unchecked, meaning that they are not displayed on the Windows Desktop. What we are doing here is checking the Computer icon so that it appears on the Desktop.

Note: If you find other icons on the list that you would like to see on the Desktop feel free to add them, it's your computer after all.

    3. Click to add a check to Computer and click OK to save the changes and to close the dialog box.

When you return to the Desktop you will find the handy Computer icon in its place.

Before Atty pops me up side the head for being ungrateful ... I appreciate your efforts :)
I did follow your step-by-step instructions, when I opened the Icon it showed the same thing as when I open Computer.
That is my kind of instruction tho ;)
Oh, and I learned I have Vista ...
Old guy across the road is the source of my aggravating company but I don't wish him any harm. He had a mild stoke 2 weeks ago and a blockage in his brain was found. They took him out on a stretcher. Can't be good.
Sorry to hear about your neighbor Fran :(
    Hope he'll be okay

    :(
I wanna go as quickly as my Brother did. One second you're there, next second ...heart attack in his case...you're not.
That's what dad wants ... not sure how I feel about that.

Back to his old self...like nothing happened. :D
Yep, you suffered a lot more than he did

Yummy masaman w/ tofu medium spicy (and one spring roll). Could not WAIT to
get home and rinse off the new teefs. (Hand cleanliness is now a concern due to
mouth contact... especially this time of year). Seems like I hoarded a few grains
of rice.:confused: They traveled well.

Better just become accustomed to it.

and how did the nursing home visit go yesterday?

    ???

    Tomorrow. But now...

I left a message today (to check she'd be there) but her phone (one of those
talk/text things) was not working right. (Was I thhh-hh and ss-sss -ing too
much?) She just said she would call back later and that her son is bringing
her to the (old) house on Thanksgiving and she'd see me then.

    :glare: at the son.

Maybe she WANTS to see it again... but I hope it's only from the outside.
How heartbreaking it would be for them to take her in there. Even then,
they tossed her front "arbor walkway" into the dumpster, so it's a glaring
difference... and the HUGE dumpster filled with her stuff. :: sigh ::

"Assisted Living" ... not nursing home.

Your poor neighbor Bear, hope she is aware of what's been going on over there :(

Where will your kitties go when the chairs are gone? :(

Well... if they have NOT been brutally honest with her, it will make her sad.

Last Winter, Oreo went under the covers and up onto a stacked chair. There's
room. I'll add a blanket this year since he's not at all warming up to the kitty
house. Ty-grr knows where the back door is. He'll just hang around there until
I let him in... or he will learn to just STAY in.

Local weather-guessers are saying below-average snowfall and yo-yo temps.
Not just "yo" like last Winter. Right. That's why they are on LOCAL television,
because they are just THAT good.

I seem to remember you saying that about Oreo before, a nice blanket under there would be very kind of you :) Then again he may take to the house once it gets cold enough

I hope & pray dad never has to go into assisted living :(
