Long story. I did study the Torah (the Old Testament) very carefully in my youth. Our apples originated in Central Asia--they didn't grow anywhere in the Middle East...

Pomegranates have all kind of symbolic meanings--like fertility and other things that I will not mention in this thread, but they all have to with sex and reproduction.

Yup, year round. Lemons, oranges, pomegranates, kumquats...
