Yeah, but if you can read, write a basic sentence, and add, subtract, multiply, divide, and identify your own state on a map, that's probably all you need to function in some jobs for life. Seriously.

I guess that I don't buy into the "education myth" very well, except for certain jobs. I mean really...

Do you think you could sit down and pass a final exam for graduation? You've probably forgotten more than you remember now. I have. Maybe the system needs a re-work. Maybe we need "basic diploma" and "college prep diploma".

Now, does that law mean they can attend, fail every class, for 12 years and get a diploma?
SB 172 says: High school seniors will receive their diploma whether or not they pass or even take an exit exam; the law also applies retroactively to students who have graduated since 2004.

Like I said. I can agree with the minimal proficiency test concept that Tibs has...but I think it should be minimal. Or we need types of diplomas.

I don't think people should be screwed over if they WANT to pass and attend all 12 years. Now, how you filter that out from "slide by" I don't know.
