Geez, sounds just like MY PCP. If I mention any little thing, he gives me a script for a test. LOVES annual physicals...orders EVERYTHING. I'm with you, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. A checkup every now and then is fine, but I was reading that yearly physicals are not necessary.
My
insurance covers annual wellness physicals "in full". What I found out
is ANYTHING beyond bare hands-on tests (eg: EKG) is a co-pay extra.
No big deal, really, but there were 3 such add-ons last time and I do know
co-pays have gone up. STILL no big $ deal, but I see it as a racket. Very
analogous to buying a car... here's the car, but you're going to pay for
each and every bolt and nut.
But... I should do it if only to get the influenza vaccination while there.
And

to get a for-sure referral for what will now be an annual
ultrasound... last year's was to get a baseline on a SUSPECT "athoracic aortic
aneurysm". But you know what... Hus *ALSO* had to have HIS "baseline"
ultrasound for the SAME thing last year as well. That just SCREAMS "latest
trendy affliction" to me.
It's too bad we can't scan that doc's referral records to see how many OTHER
people
suddenly required that same ultrasound last year. I do NOT believe it's
just coincidence/necessary. Nope. I may have been born at night, but it was
not LAST night.
