Glad he is slimming down...
very slowly!
and oscar's report is favorable as well!
ASSESSMENT:
Thank you so much for bringing Oscar in to see us today! He is such a sweet boy! Today during Oscar's visit we performed a physical exam, a chemistry panel, and fecal gram stain. Based on his keel score Oscar is overweight. He has lost 3 grams since his last visit in 2014. To prevent problems associated with obesity, we recommend reducing the total number of calories fed and increasing exercise.
Please try to feed a higher percentage of vegetables relative to the fruits. Reductions in both fat and sugars (carbohydrates)
will be the most successful in helping us to further decrease Oscar's weight. As we discussed, increasing activity levels will also be helpful. No abnormalities were detected in his wings, so his lack of flying most likely is behavioral.
Oscar's feather destruction behavior appears to have significantly diminished since his last visit. It is a common problem with male Eclectus parrots and may never completely resolve. However, you are clearly making great progress! The liver values (AST) have normalized since Oscar's last visit. In addition, his cholesterol remains within normal limits. At this time Oscar appears to be doing well and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
