it is! unless you go all the way and make true gravy! sure miss those get-togethers where making gravy was the highlight! read this - it's pretty close to what i experienced ;)

How To Make Italian Sunday Gravy

I still do! It's a tradition that came from Sicily that 'sauce' is made without meat (marinara), and gravy is with meat.....both from tomatoes.

Now, when you're making roast beef with gravy, then it's the brown gravy made from the drippings with flour added.

    Same here Tibs I had friends from the "Hill" in St Louis back in the high school days who's moms and grandmas would cook on Sundays,you might have even read about some of them in the national news back then :rolleyes:

    I'm with you Tibs I've never bought a bottle of the ready made stuff like ragoo ;)

    now i have to admit that i have used some bought marinara in a pinch and doctored it but there is nothing like a big pot of gravy full of meat and simmered for hours ;)
