... any of you kitty parents have suggestions for dry food? ...

Do you insist on "the best/healthiest" (ie: most expensive)... "not too bad and lots of
variety" (ie: average price)... or "eat it or go hungry, I don't care" (ie: economy)?

Ty-Grr and T'mato get a mix of:
... Meow Mix -or- Friskies -or- Fancy Feast (etc etc etc, depending on sales and coupons)
... Science Diet "Senior"
... Science Diet "Oral Health"
... Science Diet "Hairball Control"

Oreo, Sheba, other non-household cats, skunks, possums, raccoons, starlings get:
... Meow Mix -or- Friskies -or- Fancy Feast (etc etc etc, depending on sales and coupons)

Mad: One thing I'd do with Fido was to get different canned wet food and mix some into is normal dry food.

That way his food stayed mostly the same (and didn't mess up his digestion) but the flavors changed and had some variety. The wet food is mostly water, so it doesn't change nutrition much...I mean Fido would have needed 6 cans a day or something like that if it was 100% wet. So they became "flavoring" tools.

With cats, IDK. Different cans of fancy feast or whatever. But you only need a few spoon fulls per day...remember they can smell/taste much more than we can, so a little goes a long way for "interest".

Thanks for all the responses, snails!

I was trying to make a funny by saying stores that allow "taste testing" don't exist.

Right meow, both Zuzu and Levlev eat Royal Cannin kitten kibble (morning and 2nd dinner) and wet (single, 1st dinner). My plan is to switch them to something else, once they're a year old, that falls under Bear's "not too bad and lots of variety" category, but is known not to have any bad stuff like cardboard filler.

I can choose to eat bad-for-you processed food, but since my kittehs can't really choose, I wanna give at least some thought to what I feed them.

i'm in bear's camp hoping to alleviate the consequences of so-so dry food with decent wet food. if i weren't feeding an army, just like bear ;), and had just 2 i'd probably go a different route.

    Good morning snails.
You sure you can't take them with you, Mad? (at least one of them and carry him/her)

Rainy day here, but warmer. :)
    Also busy day.

    Good morning, Snails.

Headed out the door in a few minutes!

Good morning Atty & Gracie :)

We have pet welcoming stores also ;)

    Sigh.
Washing machine hose broke (hot water feed). Fortunately, didn't flood whole basement nor short out electricity while spraying out the back of the machine! :p

Good news: Shut off valves above both hoses.
Bad News: Shot off valve for leaking hot water hose is limed up and handle broke trying to close it off. Figures. Just my luck, the valve that I need to work, doesn't. The one I don't care about works fine. Grrrr. *
Good news: Since the cold water valve worked, I only need to buy 1 valve and 2 hoses (replace both hoses while I'm at it).
More good news: valves are put on with Teflon tape and threads, don't have to sweat them on.
Bad news: So I had to shut off the hot water at the water-heater.
Good news: at least have running water in the house, even if it's just cold.

Off to the hardware store I go...hi ho, hi ho.

    Swimby. Later snails.

    * = of course, I could just swap the hoses and turn the hot water back on, but since I have to replace one hose anyway, along with a valve, I may as well just do it all at once.

    Afternoon, Snails!

Oh, Atty, what a mess. So sorry...

    28 degrees? *shudder*

Mad, I know very little about cat food, but I know a lot about dog food. Anyway, my advice is to always buy premium food; it doesn't' have to be expensive. Kirkland brand (Costco) is one example of very inexpensive premium pet food. :)
