So basically, on the top of the stroke, if the timing is messed up the piston MAY impact the valves IF IF IF it was not designed to be far enough away from them. So some are "clearance engines" and some are not...depending on design. Maybe non-clearance gets better compression-efficiency? Or is clearance is larger by an inch. IDK.

    I never could figure out why they didn't just put a gear drive in them,or even a chain would have been better, the whole belt thing was just stupid.Unless you sell Parts.

    I thought it was a gear and chain thing, at least on most. Chains wear out too, I guess.
    They should ALL be clearance engines though.

    Most but not all,mine has a gear drive.Lots of folks learn about belt drives the hard way,when it breaks I personally wouldn't run any belt past 50,000 but that's me :2c:
