Tabebuia Tree

Ah yes! Tried many years ago to grow this! My garden club group met for a plant swap, and we stopped at a nursery on the way, and each of us purchased a small cutting.....I didn't have any luck with it, probably because of my locale. :(

Gorgeous specimen of a tree!

there's one that's ok up to zone 9b ;) maybe you just have to get the right variety!
You probably have a point there, but at this stage of the game, the landscape is pretty settled in, and.....oh, what am I saying.........if I were to see another, you betcha I'd grab it, but it would have to be a bit more mature!

in that case make sure it is

The Gold Tree, sometimes called Golden Trumpet Tree, is a fast grower to 30 feet.

This tree is cold hardy, fine in Zone 9B, with brown bark and clusters of bright yellow-gold flowers in spring.

that must be what's growing in hong kong ;)
