Morning MadO
Snails, FYI - try and find a decent French style cheese in your average supermarket. Real cheese, not quick processed stuff. MAYBE at the deli counter. Maybe, if you're lucky. Know why?
The FDA Is Against French Cheese: Roquefort Banned Due To Bacteria Levels
People have made cheese for 1000 years. Now I know I'm being...picky here. And then there's the market demand issue and mass production and crap-cheap "cheese products". But grrr.
I was looking for an alpine cheese when I randomly ran across that article. The article is about a blue cheese. Meh. American dairies don't produce much of this type of stuff, although there's at least one in WI that I know of that tries to produce a decent alpine cheese that isn't the mass-produced cheddar and motz. Then there's specialty food and wine shops where you can find stuff. But seriously, it seems...and maybe it's just my local area...that selections/variety are much more narrow these days.
Anyway, I ran across that article explaining how the FDA was messing with stuff (and it's on a med-science site) and the scientists are ticked off too. I'm trying to see if it got rescinded.
