Gov. Moonbeam just signed a whole bunch of anti-tobacco and anti-vaping bills last night. We've been fighting for years, but we lost. This looks like the beginning of the end--unless somebody with deep pockets unleashes the lawyers...
"Moonbeam"??? Seriously?

I suppose I could go read elsewhere but... what happened last night re: CA?... in a nutshell?

Me = Lazy. Sometimes.

I thought we are hoping they change the grandfather date? Or does this have nothing to do with it?

Nothing. I suspect they (the FDA) want to strike first--before the grandfather date is even voted on. Then it becomes much more difficult to change the law already on the books.

OK... I found: "California took a step backwards today by reclassifying vapor products as tobacco.
Stigmatizing vapor products, which contain no tobacco and treating them the same as combustible
tobacco while actively seeking to economically penalize smokers attempting to switch is
counterproductive to public health."

Is it known if this includes hardware? How can a battery be classified as a "tobacco product"?

And can we still fight that?

I have no idea; probably. But I suspect that it's a pre-emptive strike. After the law is on the books, the FDA will lobby to abandon the grandfather bill altogether. I'm sure that's what their plan is, anyway.

This is a rhetorical question, right?

Tobacco product is anything they deem a tobacco product, dear.
Oh... so the all-powerful "they".

And no... not rhetorical. Batteries, coils and wicks are not made from tobacco.
(As far as I know... but I've been away a while.)
