He blew out the lines and ran some chemical through them twice.

Glad it's OK, Classy. Too bad it was necessary, maybe it's a one-time thing...some schmutz that was in there from installation got washed out this time. Hopefully, no repeats!

Isn't there an HVAC thread in the OUTSIDE where you could ask about this "weird thing" in? One or more of our OUTSIDE critters is in HVAC for a living.
