Wait, I'm a contributing member of the HSUS and the ASPCA (and donate to our local shelter). Should I reconsider? What's wrong with donating to HSUS?
You can/should ask to view their ASILOMAR data. Then decide if their
placement %age suits you. The one here (Monroe County) no longer
makes me happy. It's a personal preference.

The small rescue groups (around here) and their vast network of fosters
make every possible effort to help the animals, many of the folks paying
out of their own pocket to bring the animals back from the brink. The
local "pound" and the local Humane Society make the decisions VERY
quickly. Factory-like. Assembly line. And should any of the animals show
any aggression whatsoever, they're deemed unadoptable. Never mind
that some are completely scared out of their mind.

(I make an annual donation to the ASPCA ONLY to receive their holiday
gift wrapping/tags and the calendar. Dad likes the calendar and I use the
gift wrap for his gifts and his cat's gifts.) ( :) )

It's strictly a personal preference, @Katya

And, so... on my way home from Dad's... That address is a dead end
(as are many of the "streets" around there). I was going to turn onto it,
but the street was FULL of people dancing and partying, with many
car trunks open and THUMPING noise out into the dusk. No way was
I going through the crowd and having to turn around in a driveway and
drive back through the crowd. Alone. Nope. I'm 61 and want to see
62, at least.

I'll try again during the morning tomorrow.

And... good night!
