Land line phone rates were high here, and the quality of the line was crap. So after a while, I ended up deciding on "Triple play" from Comcost. It ended up saving money, even after I paid for a UPS for the cable modem.

IDK what internet/TV you have, though.
MY landline is $23/month, barest of bones (*). (But tack on $12.50 in fees
and taxes.)

I ordered a new home system (base unit w/ handset, 4 additional handsets)
and got it all set up yesterday. It has the ability to bluetooth-pair with a
cell, so any FUTURE cell calls will come through the new system and I do
not have to carry the cell around the house with me. I'll need to carry it
with me when I go out (ie: drive) but as soon as it is in range when I
bring it in, they will sync.

Oh... cell is TracFone (Samsung, 2017, Android). $99/year ($8.33/month).
NEVER had any problems with calling or reception anywhere with the meager
flip-phone. The first 800 minutes a year are included. I have OVER 7,100
carryover minutes. So, yeah... $8.33/month is pretty good. I have a hard
time thinking 800 "free" minutes will become a limiting factor for me anyway.

The landline company has been :censored: service for a number of years
now. The final straw for me is that they charge $10/month for Caller ID
(events over the last 2 weeks pushed me into it). HOWEVER, because I
am in area code 585, they are not able to supply blocking. (People DO
have it, but only because they are grandfathered... "no new blocking"
feature available.) So... yeah... I know WHO is calling, but can do NOTHING
about it. And THEY will do NOTHING about it.

Well, this new home system has blocking built in.

And TracFone COMES WITH Caller ID. $8.33/month for full service AND
Caller ID. I'll also be able to block while out driving with an "app". (BLECH...
ICK... that "word" makes the bile rise.)

(*) - I *could* be paying LESS than $23/month if I had "metered calls"...
50 calls per month. My Dad has it. But can *I* get it??? NO! The only
people that have it HAVE had it for years. Another grandfathering thing.
So :censored: them, pretty much. Oh... and they can choke to DEATH with
their fees and taxes.

ETA: Grrr.

Cheese Souffle today (I thought of it the other day, and it's been bugging me, I've been hungry for it, and I don't have to be to the GF's until 11:00 so....) with toast and a strip or two of bacon. Maybe sliced tomato, in tribute to Tibby.

Bear, if that knee has been bothering you for two weeks and it's swelling, get to the doc and use that insurance. It can be a lot of things. They'll probably x-ray it or even do an ultrasound. Lots of stuff can happen. If your toes go purple, get to emergency.
I believe I will. ...call the doc, that is.
