And if you go browse the "Cool Science" thread, you'll ALSO find articles linking sugar to heart disease, and maybe Alzheimer's (they're calling Alzheimer's "type III diabetes" now, but it's diabetes of the brain rather than the rest of the body...watching blood sugar is probably important in helping manage it, and won't hurt). The research was suppressed in the 60's. So we all went on high-carb, low fat diets. The solution is moderate fats, lots of veggies and REDUCED carbs. From what they're saying this week. ;)

Thanks, Tibs. I think I'll try this stuff:
Stevia Sweetener | SweetLeaf® Stevia Sweetener

This one is just fiber, stevia extract and some silica. Some of their competitors have "other things" mixed into their stevia, like regular sugar or a sugar-alcohol.

not sure, atty :( this stuff to me tastes nasty! came across it when i was searching for sugar-free flavored water to up my water intake. now i'm convinced that moderate natural sugar intake poses the least harm :?:
This brand has no aftertaste (to me). It just tastes sweet.

Stanton Glantz rides again!

Oh, Atty! Don't listen to anything this guy says. He lost his anti-vaping battle and now found a new enemy/conspiracy/source of funding.

Give me a break.

I'm not saying that sugar is good, it's not. We all get enough sugar in our diets--I just don't trust anything this guy says.

If you want Stevia, look for whole leaf Stevia. All the rest is processed crap. Or use a bit of organic, local, raw, unfiltered honey.

I didn't even see that! lol. But there's 1000 studies these days, by others too.

The one I linked is just stevia extract using pure water.

And now Garrison Keillor... I loved his Prairie Home Companion... listened for years... :-x
but not a word about those 'ladies,' and i met plenty of them through the years, who were perfectly ok using their 'charms' to get to where they wanted .............

Natural fruit flavors? It's called fruit juice. Try some. ;) :p

You can condense it down too.

The thing is that CO2 is a bit bitter when mixed into water for some reason...I think it turns into carbonic acid.

Sweetners help offset that acid. Many fruit flavors actually benefit from an acid though.

Right. There are also thousands of "studies" that "prove" that partially hydrogenated fats are good for you and that diet soda is better than soda with plain old sugar added--both claims utterly and totally false.

I try to eat and drink stuff that's recognizable to me--as close to its original natural source as possible. I don't do processed, artificially sweetened or fattened stuff, or stuff that has 3-10 year shelf life. ;)

Yes, but it's never OK for any form of assault or intimidation.

The thing is with "harassment" it can be kinda vague. If she flirts with him, and he put his hand on her knee...is he harassing her and has to resign 20 years later?

If guys crack a joke about, say, a TV show and a lady overhears is she harassed? Maybe, if they do it all the time. Hostile workplace or something.

It gets subjective if it's not physical, or it's simply hand-on-knee (in an understandable situation) or a hand on middle-back/shoulders (right this way, mam... with left hand pointing the way, right hand just barely touched in an appropriate place to get attention or guide...that's frowned upon these days too).

It all depends on the situation. And there's two sides to every story.

I drink plain water (and coffee, tea, wine and whiskey). ;) But DH likes fruit flavored water--he gets his from TJ's or Whole Foods--just water + fruit flavoring. Have you tried those?

but i shall make a stop next time i visit the boy ;)

I also like to drink odd things on occasion--herbal teas, coconut water, kombucha. Herbal and fruit teas are delicious, can be drunk hot or cold, most have natural sweetness from the herbs and fruit, and you can always add a slice of orange or lemon (I grow my own Meyer lemons, which are sweet and fragrant, not acidic like commercial Eureka lemons). African Rooibos tea, white tea, green jasmine tea, wild berry hibiscus, Tulsi (Holy Basil and other auyrvedic herb teas) are all wonderful and you get additional health benefits from them in addition to hydration.
