I really don't know how much they are going to take off or even how (yet).
The area is a half circle on the bottom - so half is involved.
She did say stitches and cone, I reminded her he is already in cone.
just make sure you tell them you do not want merlin incontinent! when daisy was diagnosed it was pretty much deemed inoperable because of the location (right next to her anus, right side). and while the vet said radiation could be tried or a reduction once the tumor was bigger she cautioned that daisy would almost certainly be incontinent. considering those options i decided on a watch and see approach combined with chinese herbs. not sure those concoctions helped in any way but while her tumor has grown drastically it, so far, has not obstructed but rather pushed everything to the left. it's now 14 months since diagnosis way longer than what the vet expected, with or without treatment.
get as much info as you can and do what's best for merlin.

Not good, not good, not good.
Merlin has cancer.
He is scheduled for surgery Friday morning to remove it and they will also run a histopathology to see if it is a metastatic type or not.

Hello credit card.

So sorry, (((Classy)))... As you well know, some tumors can be removed successfully, others won't cooperate. One day at a time... My thoughts and prayers are with you and Merlin. :wub:

Home alone!!!

Kids went to my son's house to stay with the granbabies, hubby went bowling........yes, bowling..........doc's office called and said Peter's numbers have improved expotentially!! We go tomorrow for a 'limited echo' and am really curious about that......
Will keep you upadated.
Oh, and I developed a case of 'pink eye'.........staying far away from everyone and sanitizing, sanitizing, and more sanitizing.

Oh dear. More thoughts and prayers... Why do all those things always happen around the holidays. Anyone know?

OK. So...I'm still researching sweeteners. Sugar-reduction-saga, stage 2.

The grocery store has Agave Nectar as a sweetener. And I see a lot of recipes using it. Now, if you look at the wiki for it you see that it's mostly fructose.

So basically, I'd end up trading HFCS for HFAS (High Fructose Agave Syrup). What's the point? It's not really a good substitute when compared to Stevia. Bah. I'm sticking with Stevia.

Problem is most brands of Stevia are crap...they're mixed with xylitol, erythritol or sugar. If I'm buying something that claims to be Stevia, then I want the main ingredients (really ALL the ingredients) to be Stevia.

That SweetLeaf brand is pretty good...ingredients are Inulin (a fiber) and Stevia (touch of silica for some reason).

But....for Tibby...who hates Stevia:
This article talks about sugar alcohols and how they compare. It concludes that erythritol is probably the best choice. Some stevia blends include erythritol. Some forms of "stevia" are really Rebaudioside A: a sweet compound isolated from the stevia plant.

Sugar Alcohols: Good or Bad?

Oy. Just say no? ;)

Seriously, there are no easy answers--just try to reduce your intake. It may take a while, but your taste buds will adjust and you'll be surprised how good unsweetened things can be. But that takes time.

Other than that? Whole leaf stevia (if you really need it). Local raw unfiltered honey and black strap molasses--lots of good stuff in them, so at least you'll get some health benefits while using your sugar. :D

Glad you're not in that fire in So Cal, Tweety.

~~~~~ Snails. Flying by.
Bloody inferno. No rain in sight--just devil winds and heat.
BTW, Agave Nectar is nasty--and it's pure sugar. At least whole leaf stevia has no sugar.
Sugar moloecule is a sugar molecule, no matter how you slice it. It's a carbohydrate, you know, carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. We all need it and our bodies know how to metabolize it. So it really doesn't matter, honestly, which form of a sugar molecule you choose. ;)
Supposedly it does, but you can only tell if you read GERMAN. ;)
Glycemic index? I have my doubts, even if it's in German. :lol:
Yeah, I don't think it was a GI thing. HFCS has a lower GI than Sugar.
GI makes some sense to me. But it's a secondary point in the beverage case. More relevant to dinner menu choices.
No, the Germans think that somehow HFCS promotes fat building over energy use somehow, whereas Sugar supposedly gets burned as energy first, excess going to fat. I think. But I don't read German, so I don't know. It's Tibby's fault and chart, so ask her.
I thought everything ended up as sugar and/or certain trace vitamins and minerals and such. I've always been in the "it all ends up being sugar" camp. IDK. Ask Tibs. :p
Because it does. We need carbohydrates to survive. And we know how to metabolize them.
The modern dietary problems come from our modern lifestyles--too much rich, calorie-dense foods, too much processed foods, not enough exercise. Period. Our ancestors were always hungry--you had to hunt for food, wait for food, chase your food, climb trees to get your food etc. We just need to open our refrigerators--heck, we don't even have to go to the store to get our food--one click and it's delivered to your door. :facepalm:
And there's so much quackery in our "nutritional science" that I stopped paying attention a long time ago. For every "eat this" study there is a "do not eat this" study. And everybody is an expert.
Just eat a varied fresh diet, lots of veggies, fish, some meat, some fruit, some carbs, drink what you like to drink and go for a walk. :lol:
End rant. :D
Just give her the link to Der Whatever's article and she'll probably translate it in her sleep. :lol:
I can read German, still. My speaking/writing skills have diminished substantially because I haven't spoken it in years, though.
Yeah, but I'm still cutting the sugar down. It's not just "nutrition science", but also linking sugar to a host of problems.
So Stevia for me.
Good luck, Atty. And I agree, too much sugar is bad for everybody, and can be detrimental for people with all kinds of health problems.
