Hi Snails. I'm hurting so bad I can't even type this without sobbing. Hershey is gone. Just a couple of days shy of her 15th birthday. We had to take her to the vet last night and returned home without her. For the first time in I don't know how many years there's no dog in our house. Just her bed, her food and water bowls, food and meds... and her leash...

I apologize for not reading back and my long absence.
Oh dear Katya, so terribly sorry for your loss  There’s nothing quite like that empty spot :(

Thanks for the hugs and the love, Atty, Bear and KC.

I hope you have lots of pics and stuff.

Yes, I do. She's been with us for 15 years--my daughters grew up with her. We got her after Winnie, our beloved rescued mutt, succumbed to cancer 15 years ago.

Right? And what do I do with all her stuff? Throw it away?
Nope. Donations to friends, vets, pet-shops or Good Will.

Some stuff, toss if you want. But other things...donate! You'll decide when the time is right.

Toys and chewies...mostly toss due to "germs". But I donated things like a sling that I had, and gave some rinse-able toys away to friends with dogs. Leashes and stuff...good will.

    When the time is right.

P.S. I think I still have some stuff....like a monogrammed blanket and bowl.

I'm just walking from room to room and she's still everywhere. Except she isn't.

DH is ready to drive to our local shelter and just adopt a new dog, but I can't. Not yet, anyway.
Oh gee no, you need to mourn Hershey first. :(

Thank you all for your kind words and support. I've been through this before, just like most of you here have, but it never gets any easier.

It takes time to get over that acute pain. I know. But it really helps to talk with people who understand.

Love you all and thanks again.
