Probably 5 years, but we get it checked every 4 months. Still, I'm sure it's not equipped to stand up to this kind of weather. And the car has NO protection whatsoever from the weather.
Our vehicles have always been out in the front yard and have never failed to start. Might need battery with more cranking power.

Or an alternator check. Or electrical system checkup.

A battery is good IF IT IS FULLY CHARGED down to low temps. But if it's at only, say, ?80%? charge, it can freeze in those sub-zero temps. They don't make them for .... these days, so they only last an average of about 4 years-ish. I've gotten as much as 9 out of one. But it depends on size/make/cost.

KC could probably tell us more.

But cranking it won't help, it will drain the battery further and help it freeze. Freezing warps/bends/wrecks the cells in the battery.

Yeah, because amps decrease with temp too, as I understand it. That's why they rate them at CCA - Cold cranking amps. It's not about the engine being cold, it's about the battery temp and the amps it can deliver.

It’s 24 degrees this morning, forecast says 71 for this coming Monday o_O
We have the same up and down crap. They are saying we'll have 52 on Tuesday. I know they can't forecast that far ahead but 52 would be considered warm for Feb.

I don't want to think about what the bills will be like, but I'm sure glad it's working.
The heated cat hut, birdbath, and ice-dam wiring puts this place at 1000+ kwh meter
reads for December (with Christmas lights) and January. Only 1 February when it was
5.7 degrees WARMER that the previous 10-year average. Hmmm.

(It happened in August '16, too... 5.5 degrees above 10-year average.)

(Yes, I keep track of all that stuff.)
