Yeah, once they freeze they're toast.
But don't let anyone try and charge it while frozen!

Our vehicles have always been out in the front yard and have never failed to start. Might need battery with more cranking power.Probably 5 years, but we get it checked every 4 months. Still, I'm sure it's not equipped to stand up to this kind of weather. And the car has NO protection whatsoever from the weather.

Yeah, because amps decrease with temp too, as I understand it. That's why they rate them at CCA - Cold cranking amps. It's not about the engine being cold, it's about the battery temp and the amps it can deliver. Our vehicles have always been out in the front yard and have never failed to start. We have the same up and down crap. They are saying we'll have 52 on Tuesday. I know they can't forecast that far ahead but 52 would be considered warm for Feb.It’s 24 degrees this morning, forecast says 71 for this coming Monday![]()
ahem!Yeah, logically.
But in reality, pulling a battery in sub-zero temps is a royal PITA. And depending on the car, it's a PITA anyway, on a good warm day. It used to be so easy. Now these days everything is jammed in so tight.

Not touching the driveway until tomorrow, or maybe Saturday.Don't want to think about how much the driveway filled up yesterday either.
The heated cat hut, birdbath, and ice-dam wiring puts this place at 1000+ kwh meterI don't want to think about what the bills will be like, but I'm sure glad it's working.
