Good grief people can be so freaking rude !
Had a crazy woman here a bit ago !
Did you have to tell her that the policy she has is worthless?
I could understand it. You *do* know the salespeople keep
mum on a few important details. I - myself - just found one
out yesterday. Such as: if my home is leveled due to fire
or weather, I *MUST* rebuild. I cannot just take the $$$
and go condo or buy an already-existing home. That might
be pretty standard, but it was a surprise to me! I'm
thinking about exploring a different type of policy now.

(I suppose I *could* read the voluminous tome that is my
homeowner's policy... like I would understand all the legal
jargon contained therein and foresuch.) For example,
on page 22, it says a lot of stuff but all I can see is blah
blah blah-blah-blah
.)

Did it say on page 33 "You're covered"? No. It said, blah, blah blah, blah blah blah..........

;)

(Hope that's not a regional commercial)

Bear, you really should take the time and sit with your agent and go over everything with them - they are there to help you (supposed to be anyway)
You may have coverages that you don't need...or heaven forbid you may be lacking something you do need.

And THAT is the clincher. We (as purchasers) cannot possibly know each and every
question that should be asked. And if we don't ask, then we're up Merde's Riverlet
without any means of navigation.

I'm serious about the surprise yesterday... no "cash out" option. I WANT that option.
I just sent my rep another note asking if I have to rebuild on the same lot, or am I
allowed an x-mile radius or even a new state. I also want to know how long they
will pay for "temporary housing" while a new home is built. Friend # 1... it took
over 18 months to build. Friend # 2, over 12 months. Will Hus and I need to live
in a shanty town in the meantime? Ignorance *WAS* bliss... but now I know.

Sorry classy one. We have to disagree on that one.
It's HILARIOUS.

(Not saying you're wrong about them being responsible, though)

I know...and agencies that don't put their policy holders needs first piss me off too.

Well, we went through the replacement cost estimator thing and
the policy is over-insured by about $80K. Which is fine, I guess,
because there ARE things I would do differently if I have to rebuild.
The extra actual premium cost is virtually negligible, she quoted
the prices and it was like only +$35/year. Hell... give me an
extra $250K at that price.

The thing is... the thought of rebuilding makes my stomach turn.

I do not believe I have the REQUIRED PATIENCE for doing that. I
admit it. Plus, any contractor I have to deal with would walk away
from the job. I'm a hardbass. Yes. I am. Hard to believe, but
true.
