Wow. Gracie, I'm so sorry for your loss. Devastating that it was so sudden. My prayers are for you and your family at this most difficult time.
I know you're a person of faith, and we know that God took him home quickly, but it must be such a shock to you and yours since this was not the anticipated path. ~55 years, wow. So hard for you I'm sure. The love travels with him, it's not of the physical earth, it's the emotion/spiritual part. Timeless and cosmic.

Physical separation is hard, I know. And all I can do is send you my best wishes in your time of grief. Peace be with you and your family, faith and compassion to you, all those fond memories that are sometimes painful now are blessings later, and may God help you all in getting through this time. You will persevere.

I hope this is the Snails thread that Gracie belongs, too.

It's with a very heavy heart that I post this:

I called Gracie about 45 minutes ago, to get an update on how Peter did last week with the liver cancer treatments. I knew they were both optimistic about them, and I shared those thoughts, too. However, the 1st words she could barely get out of her mouth were, "He's gone, Jan".

At about 2:30AM this morning he was in excrutiating pain and had to be rushed to the hospital. He needed emergency surgey, and it didn't go well. Quite a few immediate family members are with her at home now, and I'm sure will stay with her as long as she'll allow them to. This was a big shock to all of them.

I asked if she'd like me to let people on the Lounge Lizards thread know what's happened, and she agreed. She asked if I'd also post it on the Snails thread for her, too.

I'm sure any/all good thoughts, prayers, etc. would be appreciated. She's totally heartbroken, and it's going to be a huge adjustment for her...to be without him. IIRC they were married for 60 years, and I know they were still each other's best friend and very much in love.
Oh, JC, this is so sad beyond words. Thank you so much for letting us know. She will be held softly but firmly in our hearts. Please give her our love and condolences. I hope her family helps to keep her sane at an insane time....:wub::wub::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Just got off the phone with Lisa, Gracie's daughter...and she said Gracie is OK, but is definitely having ups and downs. Gracie and her son were at the funeral home making arrangements. I also corrected my earlier post to state that they were married for almost 55 years, not the 60 I'd thought I remembered.

Either way it’s a long marriage, she’ll definitely have an adjustment:(

Good evening snails, chili here; some for the deep freeze too :thumb:

the bread came out decently. I am more concerned with the nutritional benefits than i am the taste and texture; however, it's rather heavy and brittle. Without gluten, it makes the bread like this. I believe I found the ingredient to combat this: xantham gum. It's a work in progress... something like Pepper.:D

I guess the taste is the most important thing ;)
