better think again, bear! the increases are real no matter if you (aca participants) pay them or taxpayers in general! i bet you anything monies now being paid for medicaid and aca subsidies might cover basic insurance for everyone!
also, aca is destroying the private market - those people are seeing outrageous premiums to protect the profits of insurance companies!
The private market is not what the Rs are raising from the rooftops.
But I *do* concede cause-and-effect of ACA on the private market.
No disagreement there, at all.
But do not hold blameless the health industry as a whole. They remain
the
foremost cause of premiums, both private and ACA. NOT the
insurance companies... but the hospitals, pharmas, medical supply
manufacturers, etc. When you get the final bill for everything DH
received from surgery through rehab, I'm sure you will see that $15
Tylenol capsule. Or the $25 2"x2" gauze bandage, plus $5 tape to keep
it in place. (Be sure to request an ITEMIZED bill... do not settle for
the aggregated bill. The numbers above are what I saw when they sent
a REQUESTED itemized bill for my Dad's angiogram... just going on
memory, though. EVERYTHING is bar-coded and scanned. The itemized
bill was 4 pages long.)
