Sorry Tibs, but I got the specifics on this one. I posted it in the OUTSIDE, of course.
It's not "congress"/status-quo...it's REPUBLICANS specifically. The dems have been trying to pass a bill to allow the government to negotiate these costs since ACA started. It's been BLOCKED by the R's every time. In fact, in order to get ACA passed, the R's demanded that wording was added to NOT allow the government to use it's large collective buying power to negotiate lower drug costs.

How's that for Oligarchy-by-party?

Besides, those salaries are drop-in-the-bucket compared to the dollars flowing. The real thing is costs, and they have to PAY THE DOCTORS. But I think we'd better get off this topic now....
