All went well today. She is seeing better than she has ever before. Why do we have to wait to be old to be able to see so well???? Could have had Lasik surgery, but didn't like the risks!

So, good evening and goodnight, Snails. I am completely exhausted, but that's okay. Used up my small store of energy the last 2 days. Will take a few days to build that store back up.

If I remember correctly... There are three "varieties" of cataracts.

The "big 2" health plan providers around here only cover ONE of the
three. At *all*... not even 1c for the other 2 kinds.

"Monofocal" is covered.

"Multifocal" is not.

Cataracts along with astigamatism is not.

What I'm saying is... insurance around here will not pay 1c toward it.

"We" have to pick up any difference between what Medicare covers
and the actual cost.

Yeah, you seriously need to move when Hus retires. I'd suggest somewhere warmer with fewer up-wind trees...and better HC implementation. But that's all a crap-shoot-future anyway.

@ kat - bear's list is correct and, with my bit of limited research in town, i found most of the happy patients had opted for monofocals

most cataract surgeries happen with medicare and i'm not surprised insurance companies follow along the same guidelines

Because of cataracts?... and only if I/we need multifocal or astigmatism correction?

A bit drastic to move for that possibility.

If I/we have as much luck as my Dad has had in re: health care coverage, we'll be fine.

Hus is going to work until he drops, anyway.
