Good morning Fran, Tibs, Kat & Dale
Oh, I was up, but was out in the garden giving my babies a thorough watering!
It was just one disappointment (for Dad) after another, which madeGlad he'll be discharged tomorrow, hoping that means it isn't too much of a surprise and he's doing OK.
It was just one disappointment (for Dad) after another, which made
*ME* disappointed and aggravated.
The two biggest ones were/are the surgeon decided to do the
angiogram in the "traditional" method of through the groin area
rather than the implied-promise of arm. And that led to the
inability of post-procedure cessation of ALL the bleeding. He
was not gushing blood, but the entry wound would not stop
leaking completely (as of around 19h00).
I also have one BIG question for his surgeon: Why was Dad NOT
told to cease his blood thinner med days prior to the procedure?
My God... if he makes a simple dentist appointment for a
simple cleaning, they tell him to stop the blood thinner 5 days
before the appointment. And yesterday was MUCH more invasive.
I firmly believe if they said "no blood thinner" he would have been
home last night as planned. I am *so* ticked off about that.
Of course, the surgeon will have some answer which will make no
sense at all.
The surgeon also took it upon himself to choose the day and time
of the follow-up visit. No consideration at all to ask if we had a
PREFERRED day (of the week) and time (of day). So it's on a
freaking MONDAY at 08h00. That sent BOTH of us into a "state".
THAT will be changed once he is home.
(And there were/are a few other aggravations... but I'll shut up.)
Grrr.
..........
Rant over.
Happy Thursday, everybody. No idea how today will go, so no promise
of time for stopping in later.
Oh... the test revealed no need for any stents or further operations. They absolutely should have told him to stop blood thinners for at least 5 days before, if not longer. And they gave you NO results from the test? And you don't have to shut up. Let it all out. I think we ALL totally get that sort of frustration.

not a good idea, unless they gave him pre-op instructions to do so.but why didn't your dad stop taking the blood thinners on his own?

Good morning AttyMorning snails.
No news is good news, Bear. As to the thinners, yeah, but OTOH he has to weigh the dangers of dropping the blood-thinner on your dad's risk against a little bleeding from one puncture in the groin. Sounds like he decided it's safer to keep him on the blood thinners and take time to let the wound clot up. And since your dad has congestive heart failure, the blood thinners help him have better circulation. Right?
not a good idea, unless they gave him pre-op instructions to do so.
That so disgustingly productive, and sad at the same time.Shopping done and outta the way!!![]()
Because he's 86 and can't think of everything?sorry for all the aggravation, bear!but why didn't your dad stop taking the blood thinners on his own?

Which means you should chill.Because he's 86 and can't think of everything?
Because the surgeon provided a to-do-in-advance 3-page list and
nowhere did it say "if you are on blood thinners, you should <do this>?
(Granted, if it's NOT on the list, there MAY be a reason for it.)
Because the surgeon does this day in and day out and it should
be "procedure"?
It also means if it was an oversight, I am vindicated.Which means you should chill.
