Oh, M has acute tendonitis in quadricep. They gave her a shot and sent us home with some other meds and orders for PT. She was in a lot of pain, but that shot really helped. They couldn't shoot into the quad tendon, because they can rupture, so they gave her a combo antiinflammatory/pain shot in the arm, which caused MORE pain in the area of the shot, so she came home with ice pack on her arm, too. She is now resting well! :)

 So you like Stephen King? I have read everything he has written.
I started out reading all his stuff... YEARS back. But then his
books became much too long and with alarming frequency.

I liked the "Night Shift" compilation. Short stories. I should
see if he did any others like that.

Cold, very wet, and dreary day outside. Indoor stuff, it will be.
    But first!!!...

The latest issue of the town's "Happenings" newsletter arrived.

In a blurb about town snow plows demolishing our mailboxes (posts AND
the mailbox)... and how they are not responsible BECAUSE:

"...there is no statutory or legal authority which grants an owner or
resident to place a mailbox along a public road in the right-of-way..."

Hmmmm. Let me think on that...

I wonder if, then, I removed the mailbox and requested USPS walk-up
service to the house... would they do it? After all, I, as an owner or
resident, am breaking some kind of law by having a mailbox and post
along a public road. Isn't that what it says?

    ..........

And, the annual reminder that private contract plow services must keep
plowed snow ON PROPERTY (in other words, NOT plowing it across the
road and ONTO MY FRONT LAWN) because it is against "New York State
Vehicle and Traffic Law"... it "may result in tickets being issued". "May?"
I want to know what the determining factor MAY be.

    ..........

So... I will be contacting the "commissioner of public works" (who wrote
those two items) and ask for clarification.

    ..........

What say you on those two items? (Beside I may have too much time on
my hands today and am just being difficult.)

One time... many years ago... I was out clearing the driveway and
the plow was coming down the road on the other side. I witnessed
that plow take out SIX mailbox posts in a row... ping! snap! crunch!
    fly! smash! and ooof!

But that was THEIR fault for having them along a public road in the
    right of way.

    Hmmmmm (again)...

If they consider that a "right of way", then wouldn't THEY be responsible
for mowing and weeding and raking that "right of way"??? Or do they
expect US to maintain it... but yet NOT put our mailboxes there? I am
    puzzled.

    1. I think you have every right to notify the post office and tell them they must deliver to your home, since you have no authority to place a mail box at the road.
    2. Definitely clarify "MAY". Too ambiguous. You could call and complain that they've plowed from across the street onto YOUR property and they "MAY" say "Tough Luck, Buddy".
