Kat, hope the vision globes are doing better.
So, all throughout my years of school that involved typing, I was taught to put 2 spaces after each sentence ending period. Apparently, that's wrong; two spaces applied only to the typewriter? It's SOO difficult not to double-tab the spacebar after a sentence ending period. *space space "GRR" backspace /types new sentence space space "GRR" ctrl+z 'expletives' ctrl+y*

Although us old-fogies like two, and the explanation of "modern computers us proportional fonts" is pure B.S. It's a "modern style" change, brought about by lazy people and also the internet and electronic communications. Two spaces still LOOKS better to me.
