Good morning,Gracie:) Get that fridge stocked yet?

Very dry here. We need rain.
Delivery isn't till next Tuesday.......just had some more peanut butter & crackers!

Good morning Gracie :)
Send some of that rain to frannie and me!!!
Well, it hasn't started yet, but forecast says that when it does it should last about 3 days.

Good morning Gracie:)

We need rain too! Y'all are hogging it all!
Seems that way!

Me too! me too!!!

All doors wide open, welcoming the cooling air and freshening of the indoors.

..........

VERY "Good Thursday" to you all!

..........

The knee is returning back to normal. Not oversized and/or hurting very much
at all this morning. Will cancel MD appointment and continue to baby the knee
for a few more days. :)

..........

And on the 6th morning, Sheba returns! :) :) :)

The side of her head is still a bit swollen. But now she has a cowlick on that side
of her head. (Stop reading now if you have a sensitive stomach.) It was still
too dark to tell, but I'm THINKING whatever caused the swelling is now discharging
and the "stuff" has gathered in her fur causing it to stick out/up. She and Oreo
were loving each other up as usual... she ate... had water... and spent a lot of
time cleaning her face. STILL wish I could grab her and get to a vet. But, she is
back and looking better.
Oh I so hope you can get Sheba to a vet ASAP

In honour of this historic event, "Eat Me (The Long Version)" !!! (Turn up the volume...)

I hope Karen is as evil as ever! :)

And to continue that ^ ...

...ends up Karen gets her late husband's house and tosses Lorraine out. Prior to
the segment below, Karen is retrieving items Lorraine tried to steal. The last
item is a necklace ...

:D

I read where this was a complete ad lib. Minnie was SUPPOSED to pull the necklace
from her cleavage. That ^ happened, taking Megan by surprise... but she pulled it
off with her OWN ad lib! :)

you know, bear - i was thinking that maybe sheba would benefit from an antibiotic and came across this:
Fish Mox is amoxicillin just like what humans and cats get.
It will work - and is the best and only way to get an anti
bio non prescription for your cat or dog. Stray/feral caretakers
know about this shortcut since we often work on shoestrings
and have to med cats.
or maybe your vet could advise you as to other options?

Nothing on PetsMart or Petco... so, Amazon to the rescue. May take a few
days. Then have to figure out how to get HER to receive a good dose when
Oreo is right there, too... I put out two bowls, but they dance back and
forth between them.

here's the dosage from that terrier site:
Amoxicillin: This is a general "all purpose" antibiotic that is cheap
FishMox.jpg
and easy to come by, but it does not knock down staph infections. The oral dosage for amoxicillin is 10 mg per pound of dog, given every 8 to 12 hours, depending on the severity of the problem. The fish-version of amoxicillin (Fish-Mox) can be ordered in 250 mg capsules without a prescription from Revival Animal Health or any other online pet store. You probably have some old amoxicillin around the house from the last time you got sick. This is fine to use even if "expired" more than a year ago. Expiration dates on non-liquid antibiotics are a marketing tool (i.e. they encourage people to throw good drugs down the drain) and have no scientific.

bear, have you checked your medicine cabinet? i found 2 leftover 500mg amoxocillins from dh's recent dentist visit, and a couple of 500mg keflex from mine ;) all still way younger than a year!

wrong, wrong, wrong! dh got 2 pills too many by mistake (4 one hour before procedure, 2 six hours after, but somehow prescription was written for eight) and mine are the usual amount for a full treatment i keep around on the advise of my periodontist for emergencies! ;)

I should have known better...

    It's complicated.
    wink-gif.687209

"The CDC and Public Health England in recent years have replaced “complete the course” with messages advocating taking antibiotics “exactly as prescribed.”

    and

“I’m concerned the analysis went a mile too far,” Schaffner said about the new report. "We should study each type of infection with the hopes of having more specific treatment courses and changing recommendations."

We all know that antibiotics are widely over prescribed in developed countries, for a variety of reasons. On the other hand, when you need an antibiotic, you really do need an antibiotic. If you don't get one, you may die or get very, very sick. So there. I used to have those conversations with my MD DH every single time our kids got sick...

Now I'm reading that there's a huge spike in STDs (syphilis, gonorrhea) in the US. Again.

STD rates hit another record high, with California near the top

"We're down to our last class of antibiotics that we have available to treat gonorrhea," Bolan said. "In the past, we just moved on to the next class of antibiotics, but we're now on the edge. ... We want to make sure we keep the threat of these potentially resistant strains at a low level."

You mentioned it above :: duh me :: but found:

    Dosage
Amoxicillin is available in 250mg and 500mg capsules. The recommended dose of amoxicillin in dogs and cats is 5-10mg/pound every 12-24 hours.

Sheba is pretty small, I'll guess 8 pounds. 8*7.5=60 500/60=8ish
So if I divvy it up into 8ths... but I have to allow for Oreo chowing
on the same food. Hmmmm... I'll try ~7ths and assume they'll each
    get half.

It will be better than her getting NOTHING.

    That she is.

It will be better than her getting NOTHING.

Hopefully. Can you make sure she/they eat twice a day--every 8-12 hr? That's important.

And who knows, maybe Oreo has something that needs treatment? One never knows with those cats. ;)

    Good luck!
