G'mornin, snails...

(((frannie)))

For the first time, I accidentally "locked" Zuzu in the closet yesterday. :( (Lev's been "locked" in the bathroom multiple times, but that's his own darn fault ) I felt so terrible about her being stuck in a tiny dark space all day; in 1928, they didn't really make closets the same size as they do today. Two pairs of pants and a blanket had to go into the wash asap after cleaning up fresh #1 & #2s.

She must not blame me because sometime in the middle of the night, she was back on/next to my legs in the bed, waking me up with her grooming. :p

    Mornin' Atty and Mad :)

    @FranC, QUIT ANSWERING YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, hoping for the best outcome from all these tests. If your hubs is anything like me, we don't want no more stinkin' tests, cause they just keep coming up with more stuff to deal with and stress over.:w00t:

    Good morning again, snails.

Battery has 12.67 volts. So it's probably OK. Far as I can tell right now. Lights were bright enough in the cabin.
Going to attempt taking Mom to the store.
Big freeze tonight. (-15 forecast by some, probably more like -5) Brrrrr......
GF on call if I have a transportation problem.

Can't remember. Do you take battery out if weather is getting this cold and bring it in the garage or house? And don't you still have to worry about oil getting too thick? Can't remember that, either, and I used to manage a huge auto/gas/repair business back in the early 80s. :laugh:In fact, was first FEMALE for Exxon to have the highest grade of all round :pservice on the East coast. Just had to brag a bit.

    Cool for you.

batteries IF FULLY CHARGED won't freeze. The problems come in (frequently) with partly discharged batteries freezing. Batteries are often not tip-top-charged, particularly if you ran a lot of short errands and didn't run the engine enough to charge it back up. Then, there's the stupid-Atty-trick of leaving a dome light on. Etc.

You can pull it and bring it in, you can charge it to the max (I've even heard of people putting it on a trickle charger overnight) and you can put a warming-blanket-for-batteries on it (they make them) and as far as the block heaters and oil...yeah...that's a separate issue.

People in Canada and such have block heaters and battery warmers just to make life easier.

I'm "only" expecting a -5 tonight, even though one channel said -15, most are around the -5 prediction.

Good snowy afternoon Snails :) It turns out we'll get more white stuff than forecast, but I'm sure we'll manage. The good news is that we got the light fluffy snow instead of the heavy snow, and it is supposed to end in less than 2 hours.

I'm still sending good positive energy your way Fran, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'll keep trying...

    Stay warm and safe, folks...

drat! just what we needed :?:

... Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from midnight tonight to
    10 am EST Friday...

    * what... very cold wind chills expected. The cold wind chills will
cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
Expect wind chills to range from 5 above zero to 10 below zero.
Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of 25 to 40 mph can
be expected at times, mainly into this evening.

    * Where... portions of central, south central, southwest and west
central Virginia and north central and northwest North
    Carolina.

    * When... from midnight tonight to 10 am EST Friday.

    * Additional details... the strong winds may blow down weak or
dead trees which could result in power outages.

    Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
    gloves.

I told hubs not to answer the phone but he did. News ain't getting no better. His doctor in person. All standing appointments have been cancelled and he sees his primary Monday morning. More blood work on Saturday.
That's enough to scare the crap out of him/you/us. Did they tell you why "all standing appointments have been cancelled"????????
