Only reason I see to tow the car to the shop to change the battery is if it is one of the odd ones where the battery is located inside the front fender well.

otherwise is just a way to crank up the bill IMHO

most cars come from the factory with a 600 to 750 CCA rated battery.

Is why I almost always get a replacement battery with at least a 900 CCA rating.
all my vehicles are outside in the weather 24/7 and always start regardless of weather.

PS none of my batteries ever get to be more than 3 years old also
at 3yrs they are replaced regardless of condition, some are traded in others find other uses for me.

PSS

way to go @AttyPops you did a fine job of battery 101 info.

Am I the only one who thinks it would be more trouble to winch a car up onto a flatbed than to just pop a new battery into it where it sits?

Does your car have the battery located somewhere that's really difficult to get to?

Well, that's another story altogether. Thought we had AAA, turns out Marsha had canceled it because she got roadside service through auto insurance, and those guys don't come and replace. They just tow or jump. I was nervous about getting it jumped and driving myself to get it replaced, so we just went with the tow, which is free to us. Probably take all of 15 minutes to replace..

Good morning Frannie, Tibs and KC :)

    8 here!
