everybody here trickles on well water if the temps get low enough

Well pumps run on electricity, and if you had that, you'd not need the trickle. Otherwise, the storage tank will run out and the trickle stops after a while and you're in trouble usually in the middle of the night.

THAT is different. You have power, but you're worried about...IDK...sewer lines freezing because they're more shallow in your area.

But we're talking about extended power outage issues and house temps getting below freezing and bursting the pipes/drains INSIDE.

if it gets in the teens we get plenty of frozen pipes here and that's without losing power. but i imagine stuff gets built differently up your way
