It "Tool Talk Time" w/ @AttyPops . (Fear not, I'll stay in your lane, Atty.) ( :D )

    Job to be done:
EASILY and EFFICIENTLY reset deck floor nails.

    Have tried:
Plain old hammer. Results: LOTS of pounding which causes VERY little movement of the
    nails, plus errant surrounding divots.

Hammer with a "nail set". Results: Bent nail sets and "shock" up through the hammer.
    Nail set divots.

    Thinking:
Some kind of pneumatic hammer. Searching turns up jackhammers and the like. MAYBE
that's what's needed, but I was thinking something that sends single whams at a time.

What should I be looking for to do the job? Hire it out? (By the time I rent, set things up,
work hastily within the rental time limit, take things apart and return the rental, maybe
just having some big hairy brute come out and do it would be best.) (Gonna be 63,
    remember.)

I would suggest removal of said nails and replace with decking screws. If later on said screws rise above deck height just screw them in a bit further.

    Just my :2c:

Short of replacing them, you don't have much choice...you have to drive them down...if you pull them and use "hidden fasteners" you'll have a deck full of holes.

So, the nail-set is the best way that I know of. You could see what styles they make, and/or use a dead-blow hammer if it's big enough, or some other hammer that doesn't transfer the impact to your hand.

If your nail-set bent, it was too small.
The biggest one I saw online so far was 3/32 point (but larger body)

IDK how big the heads are on your deck nails, but you could try a steel rod too, just wear eye protection in case it shatters. You really want a flat head on the set tool so you don't wreck the hammer.

We'll just ignore that Saturday 10 days out, since it's probably wrong anyway (ask Bear). And Mondays don't count, because they're Mondays.

Which site do you use for weather?

I use(d) Intellicast for YEARS, but they were sucked up by Weather Underground.

    ...and their "Wundermap".

    "Wunder". Map.

Makes me feel like I should be drinking beer from a stein served up by some
frau(lein?)named Heidi with her boobs shoved up to under her chin. While listening
    to oom-pah music.

    "Wunder".
