I thought this was day two......
Probably is....the problem with anti virals is they "may" reduce the symptoms by one day, but don't really do much else, AND they come with their OWN set of side effects, including nausea. Rest and fluids is probably best. I would NOT take an anti viral, but that's just me :)

    Yeah, it depends.
I've had doctors tell me both (and I've posted articles about it). It's debatable.
But since she didn't get the flu shot, and IF she thinks it's hitting her hard, I'd try it if I were her.
I didn't say anything to classy, as it was too late. But in her case, since she mentioned it, the AV stuff is a phone call away.

Resting and plan to keep doing so ;)

The most annoying thing is the stopped up runny nose, how can it be stopped up and running at the same time? :p
Good, glad to you're finally resting. Now you need fluid and tissues........

I’ve got tissues , we probably won’t have any by the time I’m through though  DH is supposed to pick up some stuff for me including more tissues. I’ve had hot tea and now drinking water.

Been soaking in hot water, back is sore; guess I’ve been coughing more than I realized  Feeling okay at the moment but dreading tonight ... wonder why you always feel so much worse at night? Sure glad I’m not working today :thumb: Blessing.

I’m not taking anything that might cause nausea  I absolutely abhor nausea and have my fair share of that.

    BTW, got sick starting Monday.

But since she didn't get the flu shot
while i got the flu shot for the first time this year i'm far from convinced - true story:
caught a fb post infebruary from the group of doctors i go to that their second location was closed due to 7 employees being out sick - all with confirmed flu. couldn't help myself but had to post that they were very negligent not getting the flu shot with a big grin at the end of the post. naturally, i was told the whole office had been vaccinated but they appreciated the humor in this situation ;)

    It's not a binary!

    1) They have to try and guess the "match" for the upcoming year so they can make the inoculation.
    2) It doesn't guarantee you can't get the flu.
    3) What it does is lesson the impact, since you're "primed" for it. You MAY avoid it and fight it off, or you may get a little sick, but you probably won't die from getting the real bug.

Regardless, those doctors that got immunized will recover faster. Antivirals help do that too if taken in time.

The flu is the largest immunization-preventable death in the USA.

Ask the Experts about Influenza Vaccines - CDC experts answer Q&As

"How serious a problem is influenza in the U.S.?

Influenza is the most frequent cause of death from a vaccine-preventable disease in the United States. In a study of influenza seasons from 1976–1977 through 2006–2007, the estimated number of annual influenza-associated deaths from respiratory and circulatory causes ranged from a low of 3,349 (1985–1986 season) to a high of 48,614 (2003–2004 season), with an average of 23,607 influenza-associated deaths. In addition to fatalities, seasonal influenza is also responsible for more than 200,000 hospitalizations per year. Rates of infection from seasonal influenza are highest among children, but the risks for complications, hospitalizations, and deaths are higher among adults ages 65 years and older, children younger than 5 years, and people of any age who have medical conditions that place them at increased risk for complications from influenza.

I get the shot, but I also take high doses of D3. Started out as an MS study, using D3 in high doses to reduce relapses. Worked wonders.....then they realized people were NOT getting the flu, and, if they did, it was mild. I have NOT had the flu since I started this study over 10 years ago. I'll go with D3 ANY day over those anti virals. They are just very hard on the system. And even take lots of honey (raw), as it is anti viral, as well as antibacterial :)

Beautiful day today, but windy....Maddy had to run from window to window to bark at all the leaves and birds and anything that moved outside. She is tired! I'm still adjusting to increase in meds, which is leaving me even more tired...but I'll give it time....could definitely be a good thing. :)

Good evening and goodnight Snails. Sleep well, sweet dreams and a better tomorrow for all :)
