Good morning.
Sorry, didn't post since news was already posted re Gracie.
Been a tough work week.
DH at the store re driveway paint.
Seriously...
HOA says we HAVE to paint the driveway as there is an oil stain.
Now, this stain isn't even 2' x 2' and it's kept scrubbed as best as can be...and it's really not that bad.
You pretty much have to be really looking for it.
But to insist that we paint the WHOLE dang driveway...stupid. That will just create a bigger mess later.
I feel like painting it purple with yellow polka dots.
I haven't felt really whoopie for the past several weeks...since I had that fever and chills. I feel like I have a fever that comes and goes and I am flat wiped out.
I'd try a pressure washer after soaking the concrete with a cleaner that will dissolve oil (Tide works well if wet the concrete and cover it with Tide). Let it decompose a day or two and then hit it with the pressure washer. I'd rather see a nice clean concrete surface than paint. Paint will flake, dull, and peel even on concrete, especially with tires eroding it every day. I bought a Harbor Freight pressure washer and use it once a year. It takes off everything and leaves the concrete looking new.
Or you could ignore the HOA and see what power they possess. Our HOA isn't too intrusive, but it's up to the members to follow the rules. There's been cases where requests have been ignored, but it's all up the cooperation of the members to carry out the wishes of the HOA. They are virtually powerless unless the member agrees. Some of the rules are silly. Hiring a lawyer to enforce the rules is also ineffective. The attorney can only state the terms of the HOA. Law enforcement will just smile and tell you that they only enforce city and county laws.
I used to drive my company mini van home. It had the Xerox logo on the side with a stylized design on each side and the Xerox logo on the back doors. My driveway is about 150 ft long from the road. I ignored their complaint about marked vehicles left on lots after 5pm and they eventually shut up about it. I told them that the HOA intended that rule to apply to commercial vehicles doing work for a homeowner. The verbiage stated that commercial vehicles must be removed from a homeowner's lot after 5pm.
