It's an exploration of the Hebrew Letter-Numbers, their meanings, and how translations don't cover the original text of Genesis very well. In fact this author states, emphatically, that the Hebrew Bible is basically untranslatable in its full meaning; it must be understood in biblical-Hebrew WITH knowledge of the numbers and meanings. So we can avoid a too-literal interpretation of "fanciful" stories of arks and pairs of animals and get to the actual underlying meanings of the events/metaphors.
This is the 2nd book by this author that I've read, and it attempts to discuss the 2nd coming as it is unfolding now, over time. Rather than cast it as some instantaneous event, it takes a different view. But these types of books, and this author, are a hard-read. And I'm too old and dumb to learn biblical Hebrew and be able to read the source-text directly. I find it interesting to ponder, but it's Kabbalah related, and I think that "K" gets out in the weeds very quickly. I do, though, believe that the letter-numbers have meaning, and the names of all the archetypes in the bible, from Adam to "Eve" (not her real name in the text) to all the others...they are abstract concepts to me. Truths, in an abstract
sense.
You can probably tell by this that I'm not a literalist when it comes to biblical interpretation.
I don't agree with every interpretation by this author, but I find it a refreshing read, and very interesting to get his take on it all. And he did a lot of the "leg work" with the letter-numbers for me.
The problem with Kabbalah is that it can quickly become a numbers-game that means almost anything, puts too much emphasis on numerology and gematria, and could be a quagmire if you let it run amok. So I stick to a simple-rule...that each letter-number has an implied meaning, and when grouped, there's more meaning in whatever it is trying to say with that word. The trick is that nobody can agree on the "key" to the "code". Ask any 20 people "What does Aleph mean?" and you'll likely get 20 answers.
For example, the Aleph (first letter in Hebrew, and is a sacred unity, supposedly a godly energy, or the "one energy" that drives creation) when combined with the Hebrew word for blood (Dam = Dalet Mem = blood) gives us "Spiritual Energy in physical blood...E.G. the first man...Adam in English...and ADM in biblical Hebrew... is the spirit in the flesh. Two lives...one spiritual...one physical...as a concept.
